 Fairy Godmother
My cousin Mimi and I were very close. She lost her parents before she was twenty. Her brother died a few years later. Soon after that I became pregnant. As soon as I told her, she asked me if she could be Godmother. This was no easy task for her – she was openly gay and had to make all kinds of promises to the parish priest to get approval.
She died when my son was 4. Her heart simply stopped.
