Catholic GirlsGood Catholic Girls

Growing up we lived a block from St. John’s Church. We wore our hats to church for everything—Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, Sunday Mass, High Holy Days, Holy Days of Obligation, Weekly Mass, and Daily Mass during Lent—good Catholic girls always covered their hair.

Then came Vatican II everything changed. Priests turned around and spoke in English, and we no longer had to wear our hats.
